Fans boo Amy Winehouse’s performance in Dubai

A 4,000-strong crowd at Dubai Motorbike Week has been begged by Amy Winehouse to stop jeering her.

Wino, 27, told the audience on Friday: ‘Surely, it isn’t that bad? Don’t boo.’

Fan Struan Henderson, who was at the gig, told Metro: ‘We left early as it was just too painful to endure. When the backing singer gets louder applause than the main act, it certainly isn’t a good sign.’

Another ticket-holder at Dubai’s Festival City wrote on Facebook: ‘I’m at the Amy Winehouse concert and I feel I’m watching someone having a meltdown. She’s not singing, forgetting words and shaking like a leaf. It’s very uncomfortable.’

However, Winehouse’s spokesman told me: ‘Unfortunately, Amy’s in-ear monitors weren’t working so she couldn’t hear herself while singing.

'This led to some songs being cut short, leaving the stage for a bit to see if they could be fixed and handing over to her backing singer Zalon to sing one more song than he usually would. The audience didn’t know this, of course.'
